67 K20 Rockwell 221 shifting question
T-case was rebuilt professionally by PO. Shifts smooth and easy, except....won't stay in 2wd....in the photo below, in the circled area, should there be a nylon or rubber bushing or something? Everything looks and works well on it except it won't stay in 2wd.
Thanks, ya'll.

Re: 67 K20 Rockwell 221 shifting question
I checked mine and all my linkage is soild pins and no bushings. The hole looks worn out completely and you are probably not getting it all the way into 2WD. Go on the transfercase and push the arm on the drivers side all the way back. That should get you all the way into 2WD.

Re: 67 K20 Rockwell 221 shifting question
I don't have that extender looking thing on mine.
Mine is a 67/68 Rockwell 221.

Re: 67 K20 Rockwell 221 shifting question
Thanks ya'll. Not able to move the lever by hand. It moves easily from in the cab, just won't stay put in 2wd. I wonder if my problem is that extra piece in there? I can't seem to find a diagram on the 221 that would show what was supposed to be there.

Re: 67 K20 Rockwell 221 shifting question
Really hard to tell with the pictures.
But, I am thinking you are missing the shifter support bracket? I don't know, but your set up looks custom.

Re: 67 K20 Rockwell 221 shifting question
Does anyone kow if the T221 uses detent balls to hold the shift shafts in place? If so, the springs that are used to keep pressure on the balls may have broken, allowing the shaft to pop out of position. I've never really looked at mine.
