gas tank sending unit ??????
well I have worked myself into a corner i cannot get out of. So here's my situation I bought a 31 gallon tank with the internal sump http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-576-313/ I have also bought a 87' camaro TPI fuel pump to mount on a sending unit I pulled from a 90' suburban with a 40 gallon gas tank in the junkyard. I bought an autometer fuel gauge with 0 ohms empty and 90 ohms full. Now from what I read on the forums I believe that this is the right ohms for the sending unit but when I plugged everything together to see if the gauge would be right it was acting all crazy and I don't believe I can trust the reading from the sending unit. So ultimately what I'm trying to figure out is...
is the ohms range on the autometer gauge correct for that year of sending unit? what is the right sending unit for the 31 gallon tank? My head is starting to spin from thinking about all these components meshing together and thinking about where I F'd up. This EFI swap is starting to become very overwhelming!!!

Re: gas tank sending unit ??????
A sender from a 90 suburban will be 0-90 ohms. Did you check the sender with a volt/ohm meter? The sender might be bad.
Dont quote me on this, But I think the 31 gallon & 40 gallon senders are different, Or at least the part numbers are. If the sender is bad I would buy one for the 31 gallon tank...http://www.tanks-to-pans.com/site/823208/product/FG12L |

Re: gas tank sending unit ??????
I checked the sender and it was giving me reading all over the board. So it must be bad. I guess it's one of those parts I shouldn't get from the junkyard

Re: gas tank sending unit ??????
I think 40 gallon senders get wore out more than any other sender, Most people dont like to put much fuel in a 40 gallon tank, So they wear out the sender with a repeated 1/4 tank to empty cycles.
