Welding on roof skin

I have searched and cannot find what i am looking for. My latest project has some damage on the left rear corner of the roof. I have sourced a donor roof. I am debating whether to remove the entire skin and replace or just "piece in" at the area of damage. The donor skin has some light pitting from surface rust while the damaged roof is in good shape. My concern is warping the roof when stitching in the panel. There is a post of a guy who did a lot of work on the roof of a suburban but i can't find it. Any experiences welding in part of roof skin?

I would glue it in; panel-bond is great stuff.

I agree if you replace the entire panel. I am considering welding a repair panel measuring approx. 1 sq. ft in at the left rear corner.

I'd still glue it-no warping using glue-flange your panel & glue away, JMO.

If it were me, I would replace the entire roof skin. If your donor roof skin has minor pitting as you say, then consider having it sandblasted by an experienced blaster. That will remove the rust from the bottom of the pits. Then epoxy prime it, and then a couple good coats of slicksand (sanding between) should fill the small pits.
