door spring

does anyone know best way to replace door spring on 84 chevy c10? thanks.

If you have a Harbor Freight store close by they sell that tool.

I don't think that tool will work with the torsion type springs used in these trucks.

It's made for the coil type springs like the ones used in the 88-98 trucks and many years of GM cars.

I think you need to remove the hinge (or the door) to install a new factory-style torsion spring. I have seen some aftermarket replacement torsion springs that attach via one of the hinge mounting bolts. I think those are designed to be installed with the hinge & door still on the truck.
