Frame swap

i have a 1966 suburban im looking into either spending the money and buying porterbuilt front and rear suspension or i can get a 2006 gmc rolling chassis with motor and running gear anybody done a frame swap like this before any advice would be helpful

I think the consensus has been that if you are doing 2wd that the original frame is the way to go... 4x4 it is 50/50 on a swap

I have seen a local '60-'66 on a '88+ 4x4 frame....lots of cutting and modifying and fabbing required, and it still didn't look that good. The one exception to this is the awesome turquoise 4x4 Duramax Suburban that there are many pics of on here and elsewhere on the web. IMO there is absolutely no need to go thru all the hassle of a frame swap when there is plenty that can be done with the original frames on these trucks. There are many options possible for suspension upgrades. I would pull the engine and trans from the '06 and install that into your Burb. Then just upgrade the suspension to your liking. Another reason to keep the original frame is retention of the VIN on the frame. In some states, switching a frame creates a whole bunch of headaches with the local/state DMV.

My opinion, go with the Porterbuilt components.
