Panoramic Change

I would like to send a big thank you out to John Gilbert, Steve Bentley, and CCT for their tremendous window conversion article in the May 2011 Issue. I also want to thank all you Classic Truck Guys for your positive comments and genuine interest. Scott Hursh

Re: Panoramic Change

I was wondering if it was possible to make the small to big window conversion without changing the inside sheet metal. I think they made it look easier than it would really be. All I can say is you better have you cut template lined up pretty darn good before you cut.

Re: Panoramic Change

Hi Rich, What I have found is that the inner cab metal behind the jamb at the lowest part of the window on the factory big window swoops deeper into the corner so you need a fill panel to reach the slightly larger radius of existing inner cab. Scott

Re: Panoramic Change

nice article.. interesting that you can either weld the outside seam and finish, or as they did just leave it with a flush gap.

Welcome to the forum Classicbigwindow. Looks like you offer a very desirable conversion kit for the 60-66 trucks. If you have any interest in becoming a Forum Vendor, please let me know.

Re: Panoramic Change

Thanks, John had mentioned that the next issue will show more progress and maybe glass install.

Re: Panoramic Change

Next month's CCT does have part II. We held off putting the glass back in until after I took care of some surface rust and re-caulked the drip rails. I finished up with semi-gloss white paint on the roof. Now the windshield is back out and I'm painting the interior of the cab including the dash.

That story won't be in until after I've done a story on installing rack & pinion steering with a fast steering ratio.

And thanks again Scott, you do a real nice job of hand-forming the inner panel to convert to a BBW.

Re: Panoramic Change

I would really like to do this conversion, but $ and skill have kept me from it.
