Chinese Junk Errrrrr!
I went to put my new to me sport bumper on tonight. I promptly started to break the bolts loose to fit the brackets. Sure enough yeah the broke in two before the came loose. So I guess I also have a repop bumper. It felt kinda light.
Nothing like American made fasteners of the day. |

Re: Chinese Junk Errrrrr!
Any bolt will shear if it is seized up. I've sheared off my fair share of top shelf Grade-8's. Trick in my opinion is PB Blaster, more PB Blaster, some more PB Blaster, and a impact. If it starts turning, don't stop until it is off...

Re: Chinese Junk Errrrrr!
Pretty sure bolts were breaking well before China was making anything for us.

An old timer who served in the Navy during WWII once told me when you are looking at a bolt you have to remove and it's rusty, tighten it a little bit first, then try to remove it. He said 1 of 2 things will happen, the bolt will snap off or it will come out. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |

Re: Chinese Junk Errrrrr!
Another good method is Heat the nut and bolt real good then apply some wax to the bolt at the head of the nut. The heat will draw it in the threads like soldering a coper pipe joint... you can also use a rust penetrant like PB but be prepared for smoke and a little flammage...

Re: Chinese Junk Errrrrr!
Breaking a bumper bolt is the best way to remove them.
