Steering column length
Anybody happen to know the length of the steering column on my '63 step side column shift? 30", 32" or 33"?...and, when ordering a replacement column, does it matter if my transmission has overdrive (granny gear) or not?

Re: Steering column length
I bought the ECSC-S 33 inch both 3 and 4 speed came with it, still in the box, they(CPP) also hooked me up with everything to the pwr steering gear, column looks great and was by far the best price vs all the others I looked at, this was about 3 or 4 months ago, looks like they made some changes to the catalog but give em a call 800-522-5004

Re: Steering column length
I also went with the CPP universal 33". You have some play in which you can move it up or down.

For instance, I put a '78 suburban tilt column in mine, which tends to run a bit long. Cutting the beauty ring gets it close to the dash and that is where you make some room. Last edited by wildearp; 05-29-2011 at 08:30 PM. |

Re: Steering column length
Found the photos:
This is a 73-87 Suburban column. I cut the round steering shaft and ground it into a DD. It is a driver at this point, so things are not so clean. |

Re: Steering column length
I bought the Economy 33in. Street Rod with auto shifter. I haven't put it in yet as I'm putting in a 700r4 first.
