Aftermarket tach mounting
Trying to decide where to put mine. Its a 3 3/4 Autometer. Was gonna put it on the column but I think it may block the speedo and gas gauge. Where is everybody mounting theres.

That smaller tach looks sweet - what bulbs do you have in there? I like how well lit it is.

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
Mine was put in be the p.o. and he put it on top the dash next to the pillar on the drivers side. I like the placement of it. It's not in the way of other gauges and it's visible looking out the windshield w/o being in the way either. These are the best pictures I have showing it. One from the outside and inside.

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
"Back in the day" my truck was setup with a 5" Autometer with shift light strapped to the column covering the fuel level gauge. The fuel gauge could be checked by a simple lean to the left, and you had a easy to see tach. Which was the speedo for a while because the real speedometer was broken, and there was also that time the fuel gauge was broken anyway lol.
Sorry, no pictures. I'm a huge fan of that spot though, and since I could see the fuel gauge with the 5", the 3.75" will be fine. Your gauge will be low, and the fuel needle is near the top.

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
Well I put it on the column. Doesn't seem to block the speedo and fuel gauge too bad.

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
its an RGB SMD strip. Normally you get in each light point Red,Yellow and Blue. But I got a strip with three whites. And I choose a soft tint of white. So it looks normal and is easy on the eyes at night.
look on ebay for "rgb warm white led strip" http://cgi.ebay.com/1m-LED-STRIP-505...item3a64df37c4

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
The prior owner mounted the tach here on my 83.
I cleaned up his wiring mess, but for now I am going to leave it where it is.

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
Heres a couple more pics. And 1 you can see how I trimmed the hose clamp to clear the turn signal lever assembly. I was worried it may weaken the hose clamp but it ended up working out. I can't tilt my steering wheel all the way up though as it hits the tach mounting bracket but it'll go up a coupe notches.

Re: Aftermarket tach mounting
I mounted mine on the column, but used a smaller 2-5/8 tach so it does not obstruct the other gauges. I think it fit and matched nicely.
