Stock air filter Q?

Hey i am using my stock aircleaner for my 85 chevy and i was wondering do i need the inner filter thing? I bought a K&N and I think that Inner filter is messing stuff up like cutting back on my airflow. Can someone help me. Thanks.

Hey! Another Californian! The middle thing is a charcoal filter to keep gas fumes & stuff from all the emissions crap from coming back out. I'm pretty sure you can take it out and won't have any adverse effects. Just don't quote me on that

Turlock is DEAD CENTER of Cali and the central valley. Your 192 miles away. Turlock is North from you. It is right by Modesto. Your about 3 1/2 hours way.

Removing the inner screen filter caused me no problems.
Only thing to expect is higher idle speed (100rpm or so), so you'll need to adjust that. I have had mine out for awhile now and no problems. Alot of other guys have removed them too without problems.

I have no clue what its called but it is on the inside of the aircleaner and the air filter goes around it. So what ever that is.

I just know it has something to do with emissions. They don't check it so toss it. Us Californians do need to meet up! We can't let the other big state take our fun!!!!

Hmm... Never heard of those places. Maybe we should meet half way - like Fresno or some smaller town around there. Anyone live closer we could meet at???
