Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

Continued work on my '50 project, began acquiring parts for the brakes. I need everything from the master cylinder to the rear brake shoes. Picked up some original Corvette script aluminum valve covers that will look nice on the 50's 327 looking motor.

Took the Heap out for a nice cruise early Saturday morning, nice relaxing drive.

Pulled all of my hair out over my sub contractors who can't show up when they say they will or pick up the phone. Bought new treads for the K5 so I could smile on my way to the liquor store. Sold the 98 pickup.

More cleanup/prep work on the donor cab for my '81 short-step. Slow going.

Red face Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

Nothing truck related.

Friends of my oldest daughter got married on Saturday.

I drove the bride and groom my father-in-law's '53 Buick from the church to the reception.

Very cool that I got to drive it almost 200 miles this weekend. Prayed and prayed that the 58 year old Straight 8 wasn't about to give up!

Also came to the realization that 21 year old young ladies are built significantly better than when I was that age!

Tried not to be a DOM (Dirty Old Man). Kept on repeating "you have a daughter that age"!

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

Installed off-road lights and pulled all the seals out of my tranny and trans case I dropped last weekend. As well as ordered a new dual shifter for my trans case since the single I had was so messed up it wouldn't let me shift out of 2-wheel.

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

Saturday, I got tile laid in my master bathroom. When we bought the house, it had carpet in there. The shower leaked at the seal under the door, and that turned ugly. That went so well I ended up buying a steamer to finish getting the wallpaper off. It is loose in some places, and really stuck in others. The joys of home ownership.....

Last night I worked on getting some of the trim put back on my Mustang. I had the use of my mother in laws old car until yesterday, so I pulled it apart, knocked out all of the bodywork, and we sprayed it Memorial Day here at work, since we got to work all day. I was able to drive the car home last Thursday, but still have a little trim to put back on. It's back being my daily driver as of this morning, though.

Nothing truck related, except wishing it was home. Hopefully it will be done soon.

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

I brought this home and then did a lot of yard work. My neighbor is out of town dealing with her husbands funeral and visiting family. So after I mowed my lawn I mowed hers and borrowed a DR trimmer so I could knock down some of the weeds on the side of the house. I think she is gonna be shocked when she gets home.

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

I invented new curse words as my truck headlights and taillights mysteriously stopped working in the middle of nowhere texas.

-F$%*abee
-A%$lips
-DoucheCracker

Many words were uttered in the heat of rage but these were a few highlights. I rigged up a direct hotwire from the BAT to the back of the light switch to temp fix the issue and get home by 5am... Sucky

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

I got a LOT done this weekend, but sadly never touched my truck. I spent all both days working on backyard projects. I have plans for a 4th of July GTG and I have a lot of sprucing up to do. The highlight of the weekend as finishing off the arbor that I rebuilt. Sorry no pics at this time.

I'm getting a couple of new dogs tomorrow, so the last few days have been filled with emptying out the back room for them and putting of 290' of fence for their dog pen. Nothing truck related except for it hauling everything home and taking breaks on the tailgate.

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

I finished assembling my rear spring on my 1987 V2500. Restoring them was alot of work. I sand blasted each leaf then sanded and acid primed and painted each leaf. I then assembled them with new plastic wear slides.

I also started rebuiling the TBI. The truck was runing when I removed it but when I disassembled the regulator about 1/4 cup of rust came out of it. The injector bodies were also very rusted and pitted. I cleaned it all up but Ineed to get the throttle shaft seals which I can not find. I will plan to install new injectors as well.

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

Having broken my leg two weeks ago, I don't get much done anymore. I did round up a couple buddies to help me bring home my new project though. 83 SWB, I thought it was an 82 until the owner gave me the title. Intital plans are just to have a nice cruiser. 454/400/12 bolt, 4/6 drop and most importantly, A/C.
