cleaned up miss piggy

today was the first free saturday i've had in a while so i spent an hour or so this morning, shampooing the carpet and washing the jams and exterior. She's not perfect, but she is my daily driver and i wouldn't trade her for anything (especially with the 5 speed in her now)

It takes me over a hour just to wash-n-dry the exterior.....

What did you use on your carpet ? I've bought several brand carpet cleaners only to find they weren't worth crap.

Sharp rig and GOOD Job !

Thanks bud.

For the carpets i start with grease lightening. i spray that on, rub it in with a wet brush, then i just use the turtle wax carpet cleaner. i foam that on, brush it in. then in the time it takes me to wash the outside, it dries, and i can open the doors up again and vacuum the residue off the carpets and wipe down the jams.

it's awesome. It is so nice to go down the highway and keep up. with my size tires and 4.10s i can go down the highway at 70-75 with the big block turning 2100. not to mention the swap is pretty straight forward. the hardest part is sourcing a 6 bolt np205, which my truck had stock.

Re: cleaned up miss piggy

love the truck! I had 255/85s on my old dually, was supposed to swap them onto my 82 when I sold it, but the guy begged me for them, actually gave me another $800 for it. Then he decides he doesn't want the truck and sells it. Wish I'd kept it.

Anyway. Tell me more about this tranny. I have a th400 with a 205, what would I need to do this swap?

it depends wat year th400/205 you have. If it is the newer round 6 bolt style 205, then its a 32 spline and things just got very cheap and easy.
here's my build:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ghlight=nv4500

If it is the older "racetrack" 8 bolt pattern, then its not so cheap and easy.
here's Larry's:

Re: cleaned up miss piggy

Well I dont know what style it is, but it's the original (to my knowledge) 400/205 from 1982. I did have the transfer case off a few months ago to replace the seal, but I can't say now if it's 6 bolt or not.

What are they talking about on AA website, "must be 10 spline male input and must be from a sm465"? Do you have to switch from a 205 from a 400 to a 205 from a 465? I need to keep my 205 case, it came with auto locking hubs, a rare option for 82, and I definitely want to keep it. I thought the AA package was a little pricy, I could buy a stand alone computer for the same money and run a 4l80e.

Need to do something, I hate the 400. Lousy first gear, no topend and no OD. I think the 4500 would be a really nice swap and more fun to drive. I don't plan on doing much plowing with this truck, so I don't care about having to clutch. The sound of a big block downshifting with glasspacks would make up for a lot.

I assume your talkign about this http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-50-0217/

This may be a better question for Larry or someone else with more knowledge, but i assumed all np205s that were 10 spline were all the same (input shaft wise) The diffrence was all made up with the transmission adapter. I would assume this kit would work for your set-up.
