Vin tag location?

Hi all.

I've got my '52 up and running, and for a stock truck with a v8/700r4 and a 4:55 posi as the only upgrades it's pertty fun. Although it's missing a ton of needed torque with my little 283.

My question is, did this trucks come from the factory with a VIN tag? Can't find one anywhere and I need one on there to import it into the Netherlands.

What's the stock location if any? I know Bel Airs and Fleetline cars did...

thanks!

Not a true "VIN" but there is a tag that is on the driver's door pillar. About 75 x 125 mm square. Not like the Bel Air on the firewall top of the door pillar.

Like this one on a 1-1/2 ton cab I have.

The tag will have the gross vehicle weight (loaded) of the truck and then have a number stamped in the line on the tag that some states use as the vin number.
Many states back in the 50's and earlier use the engine serial number as the vin number. If you still have the old original engine stuck back in a corner that number (on a pad by the distributor) ,may match the vin on the title. If that is the case you will have to apply for a "engine change title" and most likely they will use the number on the tag on the door or issue you a number from the state.

Re: Vin tag location?

If you have the original frame, its stamped onto the top of the left frame rail, just behind the radiator.

You're right, they started stamping the frames in the late fifties.

Like others have said, the tag was located on the upper drivers side pillar.

Re: Vin tag location?

I've got a bare GMC frame out here that I am using on my truck and there is no number stamped in it anywhere as far as I can find.

Re: Vin tag location?

No frame stamping on AD trucks. Only the door pillar tag or engine serial number.
