Painting engine covers

I want to know the best way to paint my engine cover and have it stay. What paint have you used? Method?

I'm not a pro painter, but I just did the accents on my cover. Sanded down to the base with 220, then softened up with 800. Cleaned it up and hit it with some primer, then sealer, then high-heat engine paint. Its a small area but holds up well.

You could also look into hydrodipping. Pretty cool stuff, gets awesome custom patterns and can be cheaper than custom paint in some cases.

When i had mine off i sanded them a tad bit and then brake cleanered them and then used duplicolor engine paint. I have had engine in and daily driven for little over 6 months and none of mine is flaking off. The only problem is when i installed my engine the valve covers got chipped a bit. But still not chipping.
