Cab Swap
Today, somebody gave me a 74 shortbed step side. Frame is good, bed and fenders are all there. No front end, and cab is shot. There is a good cab from an 86 at a nearby gas station. Can I put the 86 cab on the 74 frame? Help.

Re: Cab Swap
you sure can use the mounts from the 74 frame to mount up the cab tho.. you will have to midify the cab if you plan on using the 73-80 nose tho so dont scrap that old cab just yet

Re: Cab Swap
I was just planning on using the 86 because it's complete.
Interior and all. Neither has a motor and they're both automatics. The 74 is pretty much frame and bed. The front end is gone and the guys son hacked the rockers and cab corners out as well as gutted the interior and cut the wiring harness. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Cab Swap
Use 86 cab mounts and you don't need to modify anything, Ron.
If you need more info let me know, done this before. |
