exhaust question
So i have true duals with no X or H pipe on my truck.
On the way home last night one side snapped off in the middle right infront of the rear axle. So im running straight pipe no muffler on one side at the moment. Should i cut the other side at the same spot so that the back pressure is the same for both heads or can i drive it ok with half having a muffler and half being straight pipes? I intend to upgrade to larger piping and headers in a few months anyways so want to leave it how it is if i can. Its a carbed 350.

Re: exhaust question
It probably sounds god awful with one muffler and one side open. If it were mine i'd probably hack it off and have some fun for a few days and then put new exhaust on it. Its back far enough that it might not be too obnoxious and fumes shouldn't really enter the cab.

Re: exhaust question
Guess it depends on what the neighbors are saying LOL
Sounds like there's enough pipe left to where there wouldn't be much of a back pressure problem. Is it past the muffler? When I switched the headers on mine, the pipe was too short, so I slapped them both on and ran 50 miles to the muffler shop. Talk about turnin some heads! If it gets annoying after a while, could probably run up a and get an extension or something and slap it on till you get your new pipes.

Re: exhaust question
Back pressure or not i'd take it off and tick off some neighbors. Not to mention these thing roar without a muffler to tame them. If you run them longer than a week the exhaust drone will kill you though.

Re: exhaust question
It will run with one muffler but it will be ugly sounding and your gas milage may suffer. It shouldnt hurt anything unless it gets really cold out.
