How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
Just got to thinking about this the other day, in my emediate hood we have including mine 4 trucks, another `64 sb, `61 sb, `65 k20, and a `63 step, of which I have`nt any photos, ( I`ll have to fix that) anyways the `63 step belongs to one of our good neighbors, Roy.. he`s owned it sinse new off of the lot, used to tow his race car to the drags with it, by the way its the same color as his dragster linked here that is now in the NHRA museam. For us old farts we`ll remember those days,,,
http://www.nhra.net/museum/features/feature3.html In our overall local area I know of another 20 or so trucks that are not hooked up to this site. I`ll see if we can`t fix that.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
I just moved to the del paso area of sacramento and know of 5 of the top of my head within a couple blocks, i was in rio linda area and know of a couple over there,i see them all over sacramento area when were out driving.Rich if you dont mind me asking what part of sacramento do you live in,the reason i ask is because one of the trucks by my house has the same color paint job as your tail light picture in your avatar would be crazy if it was yours

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
There's a '65 long fleet, '66k10 short fleet, a restored '66 glass truck and what looks to be a '62 c60 all very close to where I live. There is also an elusive '60 long fleet K20 BBW that I see once in a while parked close to the house and driving once in a while. I really want to get pics (especially of the '60) but don't want to just walk up someone's driveway and start shooting. People around here can be kinda uptight about that stuff. I've always wondered if some of them are on the site.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
Lol just noticed that 4 of the first 5 guys were in Cali haha. Its a little different up here where we can't drive em year round really. You can have a truck 2 blocks away and not even see it for years.
I have 4 that I've SEEN in the state. I'm sure there are more but many aren't in operable shape. I'm the only step I've seen. We've got a 65 Long fleet running retarded high compression 427, a 64 fleet with an sbc, and a really clean 65 short fleet painted candy orange. Thats really all I've seen. And I'm definately the only LS powered within at least 50-70 miles of here lol.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
^ I agree I live in a town of about 2500 people and I think I have seen 2 more 60-66 trucks. I don't drive the 64 in the winter, something about ice and a rear wheel drive stepper with some HP. Besides those of us in Ice states spend our winters doing upgrades as we don't have the luxury of warm weather 12 months a year.
Yea I know I could move, but that's easier said than done. Especially with family envolved. Besides I've noticed that the warm states are pretty crowded NOW |

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
There are three other trucks besides mine in town here. A '65 short bed step, a '63 long bed fleet, and a '62 GMC long bed step 3/4 ton 4x4. No pix at the moment, but I'll see if I can get some.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
I recently moved to Bakersfield and I see at least one 60-66 Chevy or GMC truck a day out here! I have met one owner so far, he's building a '66 step side street rod, and I'm working on building up a local network again!

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
I think there are 60,000 people in my town and I can't think of one other 60-66 in town - just me.
I know of 1 '64 Chevy in the next town north and 1 '66 GMC in the next town south, but that is it. Greg.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
There's a '70 fleetside about 6 houses down and a '65 el camino a couple houses down from that. Other than that, Andyboy, a forum member, has his GMC about 5 blocks away.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
none, notta, zip, zero!! down the road is a 70'ish in a backyard, but nothing near my era anywhere close! =-(
There is a 1969 Daytona with the big wing sitting in the Garage right ascross the street from me, it hasn't seen daylight since 1972 and the guy wont sell it. He bought it new and put 40k miles then parked it. Says one day he will put a new battery in it and drive it again.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
We must live in the old truck capitol since there are quite a few within a few minutes of the house, although not all are in tip top condition. There’s a real nice yellow panel truck with chrome wheels running around but I haven’t been able to get a photo of that one yet. My wife recently took a picture of a 60-66 with a mustache painted on the hood, but I don’t have it downloaded from her cell phone yet. We also took a shot of a 64-66 GMC shortbed with a chrome flat bar grille under the GMC grille, but the phone ate the picture before it could be downloaded. Here are some local photos that have been posted before.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
I was stationed at Fairchild back in the early 90's and I had a white 65 or 66 C20 (can't remember which year it was anymore) that I sold when I moved away. It looked a lot like the white GMC in your post above, but the Chev version. I'd love to have it again. I was actually out in Spokane last weekend and I kept an eye out for it. I know the chances of finding it are about as good as me winning the lottery, but a guy can still hope!

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
I have my 64, my buddy has about 6 trucks in his yard right now, well actually, 4 complete trucks, enough to build another and a GMC Suburban. I'll try to get some pics next time I'm there.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
60-66 trucks in your local neighborhood? That's not a question for PA. I only know of mine in my town (25000 plus college kids). Just outside of town there is a farmer who regularly uses his barn kept stake bed. I do know of another one in a town 15 miles away. Over the summer I will go to a larger show in Pittsburgh, and there will only be 1 or 2 others there. In the past 2 years I have only seen 2 in local yards, and their badly rotted shells are long crushed by now.

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
Ive only seen 7 in my whole city of about 200,00 people. Im sure theres a couple more out there, but rarely see them around here. The 48-55 and 67-72 crowd is the most popular here

Re: How many trucks in your local Neighborhood
The funny part is we spotted a camouflaged long bed fleetside in the same area a few days ago, and wouldn't you know I didn't have a camera with me. That was actually the truck we went after this morning. Too late - it was gone but at least we found the others instead!
