Re: Decoding my 65 vin

I'll take a stab,,,
C= Conventional (2WD)
25= 3/4-Ton
4= Pickup
5= 1965
Z= Fremont assy plant
153451= Sequential Serial number

DD probably stands for Delivery Date. The dealer could stamp this space if he wanted to with the date the truck arrived on the lot. Not many did.

Re: Decoding my 65 vin

the 1965 engine options that im aware of for the c-10,k-10, c-20. k-20 were the 230 w/date codes TA, TE, TG 292 w/date codes UH, UT 283 w/date codes WA, WE. Ive heard of some late models that had 250, but not sure if factory...I know it was a 1966 option as was the 327.

Re: Decoding my 65 vin

What engine do you have now? If its a 6cyl, the stamp will be on a pad next to the distributor and if the v8 it will be forward of the right side cylinder head

what I have now is a V8 327 which I dont think was an option for this year truck. I was wondering if there were something in the vin or some where else to tell me what the truck should have came with.

Re: Decoding my 65 vin

The L6 to V8 conversion is fairly simple, so either could have come with the truck. What does your upper radiator mount look like? If its flat, most likely it came with a 6, if its raised most likely an 8

Re: Decoding my 65 vin

There is nothing on the truck or VIN that will tell you what it came with. Rarely...you can find a factory build sheet on the underside of the seat. I would start with running the numbers on the block that you have. Im more familiar with the 60-63 models...so maybe somebody can pipe in, but sometimes towards the end of a model you will find the next year engines. The 327 was listed for the 1966 models, but was made from 1962-1969 and the 283 from 1957-1967.
