Cool Cd player install question on wires please.

Hey there, I am installing an aftermarket cd player tomorrow. Taking a look at the harness I have a couple of questions.
The ignition, Illumination wires from my alpine. Where can I run these into? Im assuming somewhere on the fuse box?
This is my first cd player install and I'm not sure where to connect these into my truck. Thank you for the help as always gang.

Re: Cd player install question on wires please.

I actually just did my first CD install last week. I could not figure where to plug the illumination wire into but it works fine, I think it might be for newer vehicles (?).

Did your truck have a clock in it? Mine did and I found out that multiple things plug into that fuse. Should be an orange wire. Looked like a factory made accessory harness or something to me. That's going to be the battery (constant hot)

The ignition should be a yellow wire. If you have a current stereo (like the factory one or an older one) there should be a yellow wire hooked up to it somewhere. That's the ignition.

Don't forget your ground too.

Perfect, thank you. I'll leave that bastard illumination unconnected. Haha
Also, I see a power cable. I'm assuming I run it to the battery power terminal directly and the ignition wire tells the radio when to draw current?

Power wire would be hooked to the orange wire I talked about if you have it.

At the middle topish of your fusebox is a metal connector sticking out (instead of the glass fuses) and that's where the orange harness connector is plugged into. Might be easier to find the dome light wiring and follow it back, because it is part of the orange harness.

You can hook up that illum wire to a dash light or headlight switch. It dims the display when your headlights are turned on.

There are lugs right on the fuse box you can put a spade lug on.

Re: Cd player install question on wires please.

Typically you would connect your RED wire to switched ignition and the YELLOW to battery. On the fuse block you'll have a couple of empty connection points labled AUX, these accept a spade terminal are switched 12V. The yellow wire is used to maintain memory operation for the radio and your illum wire can connect to your instrument lights at the light switch.
