? About Bench Seat
Hey out there
I got a 66 step-side and i was wondering where to get and i don't know the name of it. It is the wire or piece of metal that goes from one side of the seat to the other and it is connected to the latch on the driver side to unlock the seat so you could move it forward or back. The one i got in my truck is broken and it does not look original it looks like someone jimmy rigged a thin piece but that is broken under the seat. And in order to move the seat i used the lever on the driver side and i have someone else to unlock it with a screw driver on the passenger side. I looked in lmc and they had everything else but that for the seat. I was thinking about finding one at a junk yard or making one. But if i could just buy one that would work better. Any help or answers would be great!!! thanks |

I say junk yard, You never what else you can find. Treasures are everywhere. And sometimes a call to the parts store. Maybe just not listed in the catalog. Some of truck parts guys have them,

Heavy gauge wire works well. I fixed one on another truck with 12 gauge fence wire. You can pick it up at tractor's supply or probably any hardware store.

Re: ? About Bench Seat
You might try a piece wire from a fence. You know the end of the chain link has a straight wore the ties it together at the end .Cheap

Re: ? About Bench Seat
I thought I would post this about stock seats. I removed the seat cover off my 66 seat I found broken springs and perimeter wire. Thinking 64-66 seats are all the same I picked up a seat out of a 64 the springs are totaly different. I took both seats to my upholsterer he told me that the 64 will make alot better seat because of no perimeter wire and better springs.
