Re: 305 v6 power steering question

Yes, they did. I bought a used stock PS pump and bracket off ebay a couple of years ago. To my knowledge nobody makes any aftermarket parts for these motors except tranny adapter plates and those are really expensive.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

Do a search on here there a lot of good threads upgrading to a power steering box. You can get the double grove pulleys off of a big truck. You can use the power steering brackets off of a 67-69 pick up also. they would be easier to find. A T rockdriller made his own brackets for his power steering.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

Yes it does. I'm seriously thinking that IF we pitch together, one of us could take one of the OEM brackets and have it remade at a good shop. YOU out there Capt. Fab?

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

If I had the original brackets to go off of, no problem fabricating new brackets. I would have to see if I could find a V6 around here to check fitment on though.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

I have both sets of V6 power steering brackets (no they are not for sale ) 60-66 and the later version 67-69 for pickups as big truck brackets are different.
The later version will work on the early trucks.

Capt if you want I could mount it up on my V6 take some pics and send you the brackets so you can copy them.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

Is there an advantage to either the early set or the later set of brackets. I wonder which ones would be easier to reproduce. Maybe if I could see some pics of both sets.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

I'm not sure if you can use a different ram set up. I would suspect that you could but you will need to check with one of the guru's.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

I used a wide belt pulley Cadillac pump for my conversion, and made brackets from scratch, came out much like dually's.

I'll have to revise them to raise the pump, as I have just found a two piston air pump I want to engine drive with an electric pulley clutch. The pump looks a lot like the ones I have seen on these years trucks. I will use it for a small air tank under the bed, as my truck will end up as a workable 1 ton service dually flatbed, with hoist and other helpers in place.

Re: 305 v6 power steering question

No, not yet. Trying to find a V6 locally that I can use for mockup. I may have to make them without one.........I did find a complete power steering setup for a V6 though.
