Pedal Assembly Interchangeabilty
In the near future I'm going to be swapping out the SM465 in my '76 to a 700R4. I know that during this swap I will have to swap out the manual pedal assembly for an automatic pedal assembly, but I don't know which years of auto pedal assemblies I can use. Are all '73-'87 auto pedal assemblies the same or are there only certain years that will fit in my '76?
Thanks in advance for the help

Re: Pedal Assembly Interchangeabilty
well all years will interchange from 73-87 far as i know, but you could save yourself alot of time and work if you just unbolt the pedel from the arm theres 2 bolts half way up the clutch pedel, sure youll still have a narrow brake pedel but it wont look as goofy and a clutch in and auto truck lol pry not the right way to doit but would work, but like i say i think they'll all interchange for 73-87.

Re: Pedal Assembly Interchangeabilty
Ok here goes. I made these pics at 2 am so if I made some basic spelling errors I apologize up front lol. Im converting mine to a manual at the moment so I figured Id show you what I have experienced so far. Everything but the brake light switch bracket has been a direct swap. I did a test fit with a later model pedal assembly and it went flawlessly. Heres the pics. If you need any other shots let me know.

Re: Pedal Assembly Interchangeabilty
I did the swap both directions in my Burb...from auto to manual and then back to auto. I can't remember what year the pedal assembly I used, but there were some subtle differences. They were very easy to deal with. IIRC one was the bottom two studs for the master cylinder had to. be changed and the other was the plate assembly that was for the brake light switch. When I converted back to an auto, all I did was unbolt the clutch pedal until I had the time to swap out the pedal assembly.

Re: Pedal Assembly Interchangeabilty
So it is possible to unbolt the pedals from the manual pedal setup and bolt in an auto brake pedal?

Anyway, I ended up swapping in the wide auto pedal in the manual pedal assembly and swapped to power brakes at the same time. Everything bolted up nicely, no surprises. Hope this helps!
