My 87' on Hummer wheels

Bought these wheels the other day on craigslist. I only paid $150 for 4 and are in mint condition. Traded for the tires. Never seen a sq truck with hummer wheels. LIKE???? This is just my tow rig.

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

Mr. Pops has them on his crew.
I think they look great without the centers.
Maybe just get some push through center caps.
They remind me of the old turbin wheels.

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

The push thru Center caps will not work unless you machine out the center bore. These wheels are Hub centric. When I installed mine I had to sand some rust off of the hubs so the wheels will fit.

They don't have tapered lug nuts?

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

Yeah they do. They have really wide tapered lugs. The lug nut set I had on the Custom wheels before this would not work they wanted to go to far in for my liking. Hub centric and tapered lugs! REALLY CENTERED WHEELS! LOL

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

Hub-centric wheels don't have conical lug nuts or the recesses in the wheel for them. The newer wheels, as a general rule, have smaller center bore diameter.
Your tight center bore and conical lugs may actually be fighting each other. The center bore could be machined larger for a push through cap.

Am I right to assume these wheels will only fit semi-float diffs, 3/4 ton 4x4 and 2x4 front axles? Not a full float rear and a Dana 60 front?

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

Mine is a full floater and they fit over the hubs. It was tight but it did fit over it.

I had to get lug nuts to fit the old thread and that would accept the centre cap platic retainers.

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

They will fit Dana 60's and 14 bolt full floaters. I haven't had any problems with this setup. I'm also using Dynamic balancing I got from a truck stop. If remember correctly it was 2-3 ounces per tire. It ended up being about a bag and a half per tire. Below 10mph you can really feel the tires out of balance once you go faster it's as smooth as glass. In the past I have also used Golf balls About 6 per tire. Makes a funny sound when coming to a stop!

I think the Copper BB's would work But the steel one's weld/rust together after a bit. Air soft I have heard Turn to dust after a while. The golf Balls left a lot of Dust inside and were about half their original size when I took them out.

I think These wheels look Perfect on these trucks. I was thinking about getting mine powder coated black. The road salt is making my chrome peel off the wheels.

Re: My 87' on Hummer wheels

The center caps are stayn put. Im not spending $35-40 on special lugs to hold late model caps, plus I would have to buy center caps. I drive this truck like maybe 4 times a month. I am putting a full float 3:73 instead of that dam 4:10. The taller tires helper some, but need a lil less rpm. This in one of my CL buys.
