Who is using electric fans?
Okay... looking to put on a dual elec cooling fan setup on my 86. I am looking for pics and general specs of ones that are built or even complete kits that are setup for these trucks. I think we can all buy some fan and wire it up, however I would like to have something a little more "meant to be there"

Re: Who is using electric fans?
I am using this fan set up came with fans shroud and rad. They work great. Very happy with them. If you get duels make sure you run them with there own fuse and relay perfan. I found that out the hard way. Got the hole kit off ebay for under 400.

Re: Who is using electric fans?
That is a nice kit. I do however have a brand new radiator already, but I can see if the sell the fan/shroud setup by itself.

Re: Who is using electric fans?
I had an 83 once with a 400 sb, my ac guy hooked me up with the install and connected it with a switch that kicked on the fan at either rising temp on the 400 or 300 lbs on the high side of the ac. Worked great!!

Re: Who is using electric fans?
restrob... that will be a cool setup for your truck. Problem that I have right now is I don't have a V8 fan shroud for my truck. Just have the V6 one from the motor I took out.
ttcun... I will actually need to add a high pressure switch to my system since all it has on the high side right now is a pressure relief valve. Good suggestion.

Re: Who is using electric fans?
Well... I searched through google images and found this one that I liked. Just so happens another member had done this. It is not quite as "factory" looking as I would like to see but really slick none the less.

Re: Who is using electric fans?
84 GMC with a 383 stroker and electric fans mounted behind a Be Cool aluminum radiator. I also had the same fans on my 91 Silverado for daily use.

Re: Who is using electric fans?
The fans are made by SPAL and they are sold as a dual 11" fan kit, which includes the shrouds. I mounted the fans using aluminum bar stock, purchased from my local hardware store. It ies easy to work with and is not extrremely expensive. I mount the fans right up close to the radiator fins, but not touching them.
Try searching on the net for sources. http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CFAQ8wIwAg#

Re: Who is using electric fans?
I run dual LS1 fans on my truck.
This year, I'm upgrading!! I'm going to a killa fan Mark VIII!! I'm going with a 454 shroud as the mounting frame. Basically this setup. http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/p...oject1580.html I'll be using the low speed for A/C. Full speed for engine cooling. |

Re: Who is using electric fans?
Please use a Spal or major auto makers product, lots of cheap junk out there. I run a Spal and had to learn the hard way the first time, 600mi from home fan took a dump and no auto parts stores open or the ones that were didnt have anything or any idea. So I bought a regular fan to get me to Shades of the Past then found a Spal, and has worked great for me since.

Re: Who is using electric fans?
I run junkyard dual electric fans on my 83 350. ($25) wired to ignition on switch, w/ relay direct to battery. Never goes over 180. Takes a while to warm up though. Any factory V8 fan will probably work. If you use a switch don't forget to turn it on...
