One piece AD door glass?

G'day All,

I'm just wondering if anybody or everybody who knows would like to share their information on converting the later model AD doors to one piece glass. Is this a huge task? What are the pitfalls?

Regards,

Trently.

Re: One piece AD door glass?

Most people say that it is easier to just find some doors from a truck with one peice glass. There was one guy on here (Skipp99) that converted his doors. It's covered in his build (toward the end)

Good luck

Re: One piece AD door glass?

G'day Marc,

Thanks for responding, all of that is certainly food for thought. I guess that there is always more than one way to skin a cat and everybody would do it slightly different to the next guy.

If anyone else out there has any other ideas on how to do the job then speak now or forever hold your piece.

Regards,

Trently.

Getting the front track installed may prove to be a challange since they are hard to get at and I believe tack welded in at the bottom.

I did my truck a few years ago, not too hard to do.Have you seen this?

You can also just buy the inside channels instead of making them as they show. Adding power windows also makes it an easier conversion.

Check my build ...pg 3 i think,,,
buy one piece door if you can.
I couldnt find any...so I did it the hard way...
converting to power is wayyy easier,
and fronts tracks are now repopped...both thick and thin track, for glass or glass with trim..

Re: One piece AD door glass?

If you plan on running the glass without the metal frame that the one piece window trucks have you might want to consider having the glass tempered.

I've got several spare one piece window doors and I think almost every one of them is missing the front window channel guide. Even on the really nice set I picked up at a swapmeet two years ago that piece along with the regulators is missing.

I'd agree that going with an aftermarket power window regulator setup is probably the way to go as far as regulators go.

Re: One piece AD door glass?

Im working on the conversion as well. Its a PITA, I have the tracks, regulators and windows. Just gotta put it all together. Im thinking about just putting in the front track and going power though. We'll see
