Speedometer

Its may have been discussed before,but I couldn't find anything. I've seen guys add a tachometer, vacuum gage, engine minder, voltmeter, etc to their factory 1964-1966 gauge clusters. Has anyone found a replacement electric speedometer head that could use the factory cluster, but be compatable with a 4L60E?

The thread says they are working on a motor that connects to the back of your factory speedometer and turns in relation to the signals the vss outputs.
At least thats what I think it says...

Yes, that's what it says, I've been watching that thread too. It sounds promising.

That's along the lines I'm looking for. Just hope its well under $350. Hoping for more like >$150. How about converting over a factory electronic speedo? Anyone tried that?

They "say" it's supposed to be around $150, time will tell I suppose. As for converting to electric, I have one done for a 67-72, but it's not a plug and play by any means, it takes some fabrication, but can be done. Can't remember though, is a 64-66 speedo round or the long sweep type?

Its a long sweep style. Goes from 0-85 mph and the needle travels what appears to be 90 degrees. I'm wondering if there are any late model speedo's that have approx. those same specs.

I run a scangauge as a speedo, since I can remove it instantly, and it reads off of the VSS signals at the pcm. Its a nice option until you can find a permanent solution, and it can be set to other gauge functions if you don't need it as a speedo.

I've been reading the thread on the cluster plug in, they are getting close to finish.

I'm sure he will sell a TON, if they really are only $150.
