new member 56 gmc

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and have just picked up a 1956 GMC 150. Its mostly complete minus the tailgate and engine. I was wondering if anyone could educate me on what exactly I have. Its a 150 with chrome front end, and originally a v8 truck so I was told. It had a 283 in it when the previous owner bought it and I believe the door
Tag says 155hp? I was wondering if this is more of a rare truck because I haven't seen many gmc trucks in this year for sale or at shows.

The original engine was most likely a Pontiac engine but could have been a Buick as well. They are getting rare with all the chrome.

Your front fenders have an extra hole below the hole for the whisker trim, I'm thinking its a '55 or real early '56.

The rubber bullets from the '57 Chevy car are a perfect fit. This is what I used. Got 'em from Dunchek.

Boy someone did a cob job on those holes in your 'bumpers'.

Here's 2 '56 GMC's.

The GMC V-8's were Pontiac and the 6 was a Buick.

Here's a '55 notice the trim under the whisker, thats what the lower hole in your fender is for. Also notice the rust shadow on your fender matches the shape of the trim.

BTW this '55 has be outfitted with '73-87 axels.
