pics of ECE trailing arm braces welded on....
Here's a couple of pics of Project Daisycutter's newly braced/stiffened trailing arms using the kit from Early Classics.
Fit perfect. Now to prep and paint with POR-15. SC

What do those help by stiffening them?

I would assume they're more for twisting support than bending or something. I may need to check into these also. Do they run the entire length of the arm?

I've seen that type of reinforcement on trailing arms before in magazines and here on the board. Frankly, I don't see that helping much of anything. I've had a little formal education in engineering and quite of lot of on the job engineering. When I re-did my trailing arms I cut pieces of 3/16" plate and welded them inside the arm to increase the strength of the "I" part. They (the trailing arms) are in the configuration of an "I" beam and it is the vertical part that gives the top load strength. There isn't really much twisting forces on these arms. The physics forces are compression front to rear from acceleration and down load from the springs.

I am not doubting ECE's kit for what their application is. I have bought quite a few of my suspension components from them and know them to be very reliable. I still want to stress if you think down load could lead to problems and I know these arms can actually break (I have an acquaintance to whom this happened) they need re-inforcement on the inner part. ECE is mainly offering this part to avoid separation of the two parts of the arm because of rust and deterioration.
