$25 ls motor
So today I went and made a dump run. Decided the metal I had i would take to the recycler. As we were dumping it (leaf springs and some frame rail) I saw what looked like a 5.3 come out of a truck and on the the ground. Complete from throttle body to oil pan, water pump, all sensors. Come to find out, I can have it for $0.20 a lb.
I got $55 for my metal and they only charged me as though it was 400lbs. $80-$55=$25 My buddy Mike and I got it home, got it on a stand and in less than 45 minutes had it completely disassembled. It was tossed due to a broken rod. Looks like the crank is fine and the block can be cleaned up. It is only a 4.8, but the covers, head, sensors etc, recycle the block and crank at worse, still make money or have a cheap 4.8. Good score I think. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: $25 ls motor
Figured it was worth it for the sensors and covers.

Re: $25 ls motor
Change the pistons and I bet you could make a 800hp turbo motor for little of nothing.

Re: $25 ls motor
nomrlz,
Probably going to hate me even more, but I have a working 60E coming for my buddies panel from another buddy at $0. It is nice to have a ton of friends in the LS arena with various swaps and tons of parts. Another buddy has an LS rail. He just sold his road race vette minus the motor (built 427 that made over 600rwhp). That motor is going in to his rail and he will be selling the forged 347 in the rail currently. That might find it's way in another buddies 67-72. That buddy has 2 stock 346's which are then going to need a place to go. I might have just the spot for them too
