Need Some Help

What would you all pay for this truck? It has a 454 TH350, 2-wheel drive, power windows and locks. No A/C has a trailer brake controller. Only rust is on driver side rocker came from a barn.

Re: Need Some Help

Got more info on it, it has 3.73 gears, all the gauges work, and it has dual tanks and both work.

Re: Need Some Help

What else has been changed?
Most of the duallies I've seen had 4.10's and a turbo 400 (esp. behind a big block)
You can look up the NADA book value and go from there.

Re: Need Some Help

He said that's what he thought was in it but he would check the gears again. I will check NADA.

Yeah I dislike the no air too, any other prices you experts would pay(not being sarcastic).

Re: Need Some Help

I'm with Bob, start around 1500 and not go a dime above 2000 if it's what you're wanting. Unless he can show something for the mechanical aspect being refurbished, or suspension being rebuilt etc. Most "barn finds" you end up sinking the $$ in to them to replace all the belts, hoses, vacuum lines, tune up parts, flushing everything that can be flushed, catching the mice under the dash and putting in 100 pine tree air fresheners to get rid of the Old Betsy smell.

Okay that sounds great, I have the guy talked down to $700 for it. I guess that is pretty good. Any other input?

Re: Need Some Help

You could clean it up and make a profit for only $700, or just keep it. Good deal for that price.

Re: Need Some Help

do u have smog where u live? does it have papers? current reg?

700 is cheap, even if its undriveable its worth it, here in cali id run away from it sense smog is so crazy, that 454 would not pass our strict laws, thus leaving me unable to drive it.... so u need to ask uself:

does ur state smog? will the truck pass? does it have current tags? is owner willing to smog for u? does he have the pink slip? is there a body where the spare should be? lol

Re: Need Some Help

For that price, I'd probably take the gamble (if the driveway has enough room). Like stated, parting it out, you can make back your money and a little extra.

Re: Need Some Help

As far as I know Indiana has no smog laws. If I bought this truck I would use it until it quit running.

Re: Need Some Help

Wonder why they went with a 454/350 combo? Looks like it used to have a diesel but I can't see a shot with the trans tunnel to see if it was an auto or stick before.
For 7 bills you won't get hurt though. Pull just a few things off and drag the rest across the scales if you had to.
