Grrr truck wont fire!

So my truck has been sitting for about 6-8 months without being started, tranny went out right before the start of cold weather so i put it on the side of my house and waited till now. Well it wont start, i'll charge the battery enough to get it to spin over a few times. I know its getting fuel, i know its getting spark and i know it has compression, but it wont fire, it does sometimes but just dies almost instantly, Now i cant think of anything i thought maybe the coil wasn't getting a constant voltage so i made a relay/ignition switch and it sputtered and died. It has about 1/2 a tank of gas, now is it possible the gas is bad? Friday i think im going to just stick the fuel line into a bottle with new gas and try to start it with that.

350 with a edelbrock 1403 carb ontop of a 1" open bore spacer ontop of a edelbrock intake.

my vote is bad gas. spark, fuel, compression, timing, and vaccum are all you really need. If it ran and idled fine when parked... your best bet is bad gas. Plus it's an good place to start... as you have to put more gas in it some time.

I'm guessing a case of bad fuel as well. You are on the right path, and your plan for running the fuel line into a new container will make it clear pretty quickly. Starting fluid into the carb would give a hint as well.

I also like to use starter fluid as a test.
If it is making spark, compression, and air, it will at least frumpity frumpity frumpity.

+1 on the gas bypass.

Gas will go bad starting around 6 months unless you add fuel stabilizer. Diesel will last longer but because gas is so unstable it will start to go bad sooner. Agreed on running line to fresh gas. If that works just flush the fuel system and refill later.
