Question on 63 C20 to 66 stock C10 full rolling chassis swap
Hows it goin all!
So, here's the skinny...i found a fully restored C10 stock rolling frame with 6 lug front and rearend. My plan, now that i scored on this frame, is to let go of the whole 3/4 ton frame, suspension and rearend...and transfer the 63 cab, bed and stock 292/trans and drivetrain to the 66 roller so, i figured id ask all of you crafty veterans out there about any difficulties i should expect ..body mounts, drivetrain handling with the torque of the 292 on the 6 lug as opposed to the 8, etc... Any info will be much appreciated as always! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Question on 63 C20 to 66 stock C10 full rolling chassis swap
Basically everything will bolt up in/to the '66 frame. The 292 doesn't produce enough torque to hurt a truck 12 bolt. You will have to use the 292 specific motor mount frame brackets. Your C20 rear driveshaft may not bolt up to the 12 bolt, not positive on that. Have you checked with your local DMV on ther legalities of having a frame VIN that does not match the cab VIN? It may or may not be an issue, just thought I'd mention it before you find yourself with a big problem.

66 has a different parking brake cable route and system.... but I do think the cab to frame portion is the same... good to double check that.

Capt. I was definitely wondering about the vin issue...im gonna jump on that asap, lol...if i need a different driveshaft there shouldnt be any problems bolting up to the trans right? I believe its the stock sm400?? I think?? Also, gonna be hookin up a PS setup i got a while back to, so im coming to you for those brackets Johnz. Ok cool...I think there might be a difference in the cab mounts...?? Posted via Mobile Device |

c20 rear cab mounts are different than c10. just use the c10 rear mounting as you should have the frame brkt already there. use the c10 rear insulator and bolt. think that you have to drill for the bolt hole in the floor, (standard conversion). 63-66 have the same frt mounting

Padre-Ah ok...yeah i took a look at it and it was definitely different, but like you said, seemed easy to mod it to fit...any ideas about the driveshaft fitting into the 12 bolt??
