what wet sandpaper or scotch pad to dull paint
If I want to take the shine off my paint without leaving scratches, What grit paper or pad should I use? and is there a wax to use to protect the paint without making it shine? I want the old paint look.

You could wet sand it with 1500 I guess. You would still see some minor 1500 scratches. Sand out with 1500 then use a da with 2000 grit wet would totally flatten it out.

Well here are some pics of my old trucks with original patina. I first wet sand lighly with 800 grit, then go over the whole truck with a red 3m pad. Then you can accent certain areas by sanding down to the primer or metal if desired. Thanks

Have you thought about steel wool? It should give a dull but smoother finish.
