cannot collapse intermediate shaft...

i completley removed the plastic 'rivets' let it soak with pb blaster, and this is day 3 i still cannot get it to collapse, any tricks any one knows of?

How did you remove the plastic? I usually use a propane torch and cook 'em out. The plastic will swell and come out the holes looking like worms. Burn 'til it stops oozing. Whack it with a big hammer 'til it collapses...

I had to get a little aggressive with mine, I had the shaft completely out of the column. There's no way mine would have ever moved without beating on it a little.

i drilled them out and used a scribe to get the remainders out, and i have soaked it, beat it on the ground very hard, soak it again beat it on the cement some more and still wont budge, ill keep trying, i dont want to hit too hard and bend or break the rag joint

nevermind i was being a little girl and just had to hit it even harder, the thing was covered in rust.
