4x4 conversion
im thinking of buying a wreaked 71 2wd long wheelbase fleet side truck the frame is bent and i have a 71 short stepside that id like to have a 67 or 68 front clip for the long wheel base needs the nose so ill just buy me a new 67 nose to put on my stepside and put that nose on the wreaked one and i want to get a 4x4 frame my dads friend has like 10 67 to 72 junked trucks that i can have anything i want just go get it and when i went up there last seems like there was a old 71 or 72 long wheel base 4x4 3/4 ton truck up there i can get the frame from what all would i have to do to make the change do i have to have the high hump cab if so can i buy a hump someplace and cut the small hump out and replace it with the high hump and what else do i have to do thanks alot guy if i get that truck ill show u a pic of it it hit a parked car at 65 mph...lol it ugly for now

sounds like a good idea one question are you planning on putting a body lift on your truck if so you may not have change the hump. just my 2 cents.

If the original 2wd truck had the sm465 then you should have the high hump. Does the trans cover unbolt from the floor? If it does I believe that is an indication of the high hump also. Good luck, sounds like a good project.

Yes, you can cut out a low hump cab and install a high hump cover. Just set a high hump cover in place and mark it then cut away.
If you have a complete rolling chassis for a 4x4 it should be as easy as bolting on the new tin.

high hump?
does anyone know where i can buy a new high hump or do i have to find one of these model trucks and cut and reinstall it in mine? thanks or if anyone has one to sell let me know.hopefull my truck collection will include a 71 short stepside and a 71 longwheelbase 4x4 sounds like alot of fun.
