Re: 2'' or 4'' cowl hood
I have an air cleaner top that is also a filter media. The opening in the hood does pull air into the compartment, due to the negative pressure at the windshield area and with the 4" tall filter under my hood and the opening, the air feeds directly to the carb. Also the air entering the engne compartment does sweep the larger amount of heat out of the space under the truck.

Re: 2'' or 4'' cowl hood
If it's for nothing more than looks, then the 2" is as far as I'd take it.
Years back I had an 84 blazer and went with a steel goodmark 2" cowl hood. In my opinion the only way to go as far as aftermarket cowls. Very well made and the cowl portion mimic'd the factory cowls with the truck body line mixed in. The aftermarket fiberglass hoods just never really hit the look quite right and definately give you an aftermarket appearance. Then gives the whole truck a cheap appearance. Just my thoughts. |

Re: 2'' or 4'' cowl hood
me i dont like the look on a square body. the hood just dont look right with a hump in the middle. i would stay with stock hood or make my hood a cowl by lifting it up where it all ready lefts up.

Re: 2'' or 4'' cowl hood
There is only one company that I know that makes a true two inch cowl hood and it's fiberglass. All the others are 3-3.5 inch tall. VFN fiberglass has a two

Re: 2'' or 4'' cowl hood
I run a 3 inch on my 78 and wish I would have bought a 4 inch. I actually needed the clearance with my bbc but the 4" just looks mean!
