Exclamation Need some help with the tranny

My buddy has a 1967 chevy c10 pickup and we just took out the old 3 speed and we are trying to replace it with the old sm420. 4 speed. and all the splines and everything else is the same. will the sm420 fit in the bellhousing of the old 3 speed? thanks

Thanks bud. I think its an sm465. Because it has reverse right and down not left and down. Will the sm465 fit in the same bellhousing to?

sm365 has a larger frt input shaft brg retainer. i believe that 1968 was the year that it was introduced. you have 3 options. use the 68 and up b/housing- take your current hsng ta a machine shop and have them enlarge the hole to accept it. use a sm420
