Apache problem
Hey guys,
I'm new, I have a 59 apache(my first vehicle) It ran good until yesterday, I started it up and took it for a spin, I parked it and went inside to get something, when I went back outside it wasnt running anymore so I tried stating it up again, but i drained the battery trying, so i tried jumstarting it, it started up and I stepped on the gas to keep it running, when I took my foot of the gas it died, I flooded it, I kept trying so I could get it back in the garage, after afew times stepping on the starting petal it soudenly did nothing, no noises, the starter didint do anything, the headlights didint even turn on anymore, i checked the battery and the cables with a multimeter, its fully charged, any idea what it might be, I'm not to familiar with diagnostics Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Apache problem
Fusable link wire near the starter melted would be my best guess. Check there and also the lead wires at the battery. Check for good ground and good connections from battery to starter and starter fusable link up to ignition.

Re: Apache problem
You could have plugged the fuel filter and it died, after it relaxed, it wasnt getting enough to start? by trying over and over to start it you may have toasted the starter? Just my best guesses without looking at it. Even though you "tested" the battery with a multi meter, it may not have enough cranking amps to START the truck. Pull it and charge it on a large battery charger, not a cheepo small unit. Take it to a NAPA or O' Rileys etc and have them charge it ( dont ask them to test it until you go back and pick it up while you are watching- they always try to sell you a battery lol) if its good, take it back home and try it. before you start it, pull the outlet side of the fuel hose off the pump-verify you are getting fuel by having someone else crank it as you hold a 6 inch test hose into a soda bottle or bucket. if you have fuel, then check spark. Google spark test and follow the directions. If it doesnt crank over after the battery is fully charged then you most likely smoked the starter....replace it and report back. Good luck
