drop spindle selection
Hey guys wanna lower the Blue Heeler 5" front and 6 rear with blocks and notching the frame. i see most spindles they sell are 2 1/2 drop will it be to low? i currently have 3" front and 4" rear if someone has a couple pic's to show it would be helpful. thanks.

CPP's modular spindles are a 2" drop versus most which are 2.5".

the possibility of 5 in the front also depends on what size tires you are running or weather you want to slow down for dips in the road.

No arm trimming required. The front wheels were 7 inches wide with 3.5 inch backspace. Cleared just fine.
Spindles, I ordered from Summit. I ordered CPP spindles from them because they were the cheapest and Summit had them in stock and none of the CPP typical BS that so many people go through. When I got the spindles and opened the box, they were Western brand castings. CPP sells them under their name. |

I want a set of spindles that fit my factory stuff with a 2" or 2-1/2 drop. I don't need all the big brake stuff, big calipers and all the crap that goes with it. i'm running 15x8 rallys is there gonna be a clearence problem or am i good?

Yes, the modular spindles cost more becuase they will allow you to convert to larger brakes if you ever want to. The caliper mount is swapable unlike the cast in styles like Tx Firefigher shows above.
Here's a pic with 15x8, 4.5" BS steel wheels and the clearance between the arm lip and wheel. That extra .5" of other spindles will likely cause clearance issues. Sorry for the blurry pic. Here's a pic of the modular spindle.

From a number of posts, it does seem that 15x8" wheels with 4.5" BS will hit the lip of the lower arm with a 2.5" drop. I personally have not tried so I am only relating to what others have found. If you have less BS or a narrower wheel, 2.5" drop will work fine.
I have my '68 with the 2.5" spindles and have a set of 15x8" rallys I want to use but haven't test fitted them. To be safe, I picked up a pair of 15x7" rallys, just in case.

Somewhat irrelevant but what is the diameter on the hub of those 6 lug disc brakes? Looking to clear a rim with a 3" center hole. thanks

Sorry for the late response Calvin66... I went out to measure and its very close to 3".. You might have to grind very little if its too tight...

As for the CPP Modular spindle, keep in mind you also have to buy the bracket to adapt your stock brakes to them.

OK, so im confused ( no real shock there)
I have 71/72 discs now, I have 15*8 rallyes. do I go with the 2", the 2.5" or the modular spindles? I do not want to mess up my a-arms or my rallyes.

From the look of the picture above, you will want to go with a 2" spindle, cause the 2.5" will put the a-arm right against the wheel.
