Headlight Relay Upgrade

So i just now finished the double relay install to increase my headlight brightness and what a difference it made. It took around 30 minutes to complete and is well worth it. I found the double relay kit on Summit Racing for around $8. Also i found the wiring schematics on this site as well. Anyone with this year truck needs to install this as soon as possible.

I'm optimistically hoping you did not err on the price of the 'double relay' for around $8 on Summit. Which part(s) did you get? I'd love to upgrade 2 older pickups with similar conversion. I've heard nothing but good on the results. Thanks for help.

It did not happen without pictures to prove it

Re: Headlight Relay Upgrade

Here's my after pic, this is an awesome upgrade! Relays, 10ga wire straight from the battery (fused), Cibie Z-Beam H4's, and Hella 80/100 watt bulbs.

Re: Headlight Relay Upgrade

30 minutes wow!!! I bought the double relay and harness from LMC and it took me quite a while to install. Most of the time is because I anted to tuck it in nice and neat. I mounted the relays behind the grill.

Did you replace the harness? I believe you have to run a thicker gauge wire.

Re: Headlight Relay Upgrade

I have a question i did the headlight conversion with HID's , ok but when im running the lights and i turn up my radio (2 10's and 1 1000w amp) the radio just cuts off i see my battery gauge go really low but only when im doing both at the same time so if i add a relay to my lights will this help or not at all?

If you don't already have one installed and it doesn't sound like you do, you need a mininum 2.0 farad capacitor inline with your amp's power supply to help solve that problem.

The link is above. VPA SPDT Relays with Wiring Sockets 80238 for $8.95, sorry I was a dollar off. And yes 30 minutes if you know what your doing and study the wiring schematics before you tackle the job. I mounted my relays right beside the old horn relay/bus bar on the driver side of the radiator. Used 12 GA wire to the main battery source. I might can load the schematics i used later if i remember.
