Need Advise on Baggin 1961 C10
Guys, Im looking at baggin my '61 c10 and have done tons of searching on a simple and nice way of doing it. I know this year style has Torsions and is a different size frame then '63+ so most kits wont fit or work.
I'm needing advise on what to do with the front suspension and if theres any conversions I can do easily that wont break the bank Also, will any Rear end kits fit the '61 like Ridetechs or is everything going to have to be custom since different frame? Pics would help of your guys 60-62 bagged setup Thanks in advance!!! |

Welcome to the forum,Do you just want to lower it some with bags or have it lay frame?I would talk to porterbuiltfabrication.com hes a vendor on here and knows these trucks well. His site don't have anything listed but im sure he probably knows how to make stuff work for you.

I had the same dilemma with my '62. I built up a bagged '63 frame and just transferred everything over. You would need the front cab mounts off your '61 frame as '60-'62 are different than '63-'66.

God, I have too many other frames as it is.....I don't want another to work on
Ill just have to custom everything, Regular c notch in back and use the stock trail arms for the bags. For the front, Ill just torch off Torsion bars and plate the bottom control arm. Seems like this would be the simplest and most cost effective way |

Re: Need Advise on Baggin 1961 C10
The Porterbuilt Stage 1 can be made to work with the earlier frame, and I believe just the shocks mounts have to be changed from their standard kit. As for the front, the upper plate will work, but a plate will be needed for the bottom since no spring pocket exists.
From there, you can get a simple 1/4" manual air management system to control everything. We actually have one on special this month for $529. If you would like, give me a call and we can go over in detail. Travis 480-420-8175 |
