VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
Throughout the years I've owned many Quadrajets, Holleys and Thermoquads but only two Edelbrocks! My first Edelbrock experience was using an 850cfm on my 440 Moho, I tried many different Holleys on the 440 but could never get it dialed in until I put the Edelbrock 850 on it, it ran perfect! My 2nd Edelbrock experience was today, I had a Quadrajet on my mid 70's 454 and like the 440 I just couldn't get it to run right, I lacked power, throttle response and fuel mileage! I decided to look on Craigslist for another Quadrajet or Holley but found an Edelbrock Performer 1407, the guy said it had been sitting for 5 years but he only wanted $100 so I bought it anyways and I'm damn glad I did! After buying a $15 Mr. Gasket squarebore to spreadbore adapter I put the 1407 on, bolted it down, hooked up the gas line, plugged two vacuum ports and it fired up and the old 454 ran perfect!!!, LOL no kidding, I'm so stoked! I now have power, throttle response and good fuel mileage so that's why I say Vic Jr. Edelbrock for President!!! Edelbrock Performers will be the ONLY carburetor I will ever buy for any of my future vehicles and I hope some of you out there will use this thread as a learning experience and dump your Quadrajets and Holleys and bolt on a far superior carburetor, the Edelbrock Performer!!!

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
To bad edelbrocks run like dirt on 95% of anything they are bolted to.
If I need a carb to run in an apocalypse I will run a edelbrock that does nothing but dump fuel and air like a prehistoric monkey. If I want a carb to piss me off for a month I get a quadrajet if I want something that with a lil understanding and can tune like injection I go holley. Of you want a carb built by the gods get a predator. That being said. What do you think about qudrabogs now? glad to see its running like it should. Save some money and get a proper intake for that thing and be amazed at how nice it runs Posted via Mobile Device Also don't thank edelbrock thank carter and webber. They made the design first and edelbrock the self righteous prick of a company they are put their name on someone else's stuff. They Prob killed Mickey Thompson too

Didn't mean to give you a STROKE! I'm happy as hell with my Edelbrock, JEALOUS? I was a Quadrajet fan until now, never Holley but that's my opinion, just like yours!

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
Actually you may want to thank Carter (no longer making carburetors) for designing it back in the 60's. I suppose you could thank Edelbrock for buying the design and keeping it in production.
It's a good carb that shines in simplicity. It is so simple that it's hard to screw up and easy to work on. They work well on stock to mild performance engines. The trade off though is that they just don't have the tuneability that newer design carbs have.

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
Further research tells it was used from 1957 to 1967 in a lot of OEM applications. Older than I thought!

I slapped a eddy on my 305 650cfm and it worked no tuning or nothing
i remeber i needed to get my truck back on the road and well i was able to put it on and well lets jus say its so easy you can do it with a few sockets and wrenches Eddys are good in my book

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
I have an 1412 in Craigslist right now lol
Every carb has its purpose. Except quadrajet lol their purpose is has mileage and breaking and breaking nerves lol. But teach his own. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the afbs but don't like the fact they are very limited and yes I do hate quadrajets they have almost killed me many times Posted via Mobile Device

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
I love my Edelbrock as well. Fought and fought with the Quadrajet. I was going to buy a reman Quadarjet and realized I could buy a brand new Edelbrock for almost the same money. I bought the Edelbrock and have been happy ever since! SUPER easy to work on and cheap/easy to get parts for.

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
I vote for Eddy as well. I'm retarded when it comes to carbs and I took my eddie apart to clean it and actually got it running on the truck too.

Re: VIC JR. EDELBROCK for President!!!
I run Edelbrocks...one reason is because I get them very cheap on Craigslist. I also detest the Quadra-bog and I'm not patient or smart enough to figure out a Holley.

only edelbrock I would ever consider would be one of the newer ones avs series. other then that if you happy with it run it took me a few years to fine tune a q jet now I wont go back to a edelbrock or a holley unless I have no options
