87 R10- Need Motor Mount Help !!!
Team,
Im new Im neeeew !! Need a little help. I have a 87 R10 Stepside. The factory 4.3 TBI motor is shot. A friend gave us a 72' chevy 307 with very low mileage. Motor looks great & the best part- Its FREE !!! . We arent making a streetrod or go fast truck.. Not yet at least Just want to get this truck rolling again- Its been sitting for over a year. I'll keep my eye out for a nice 350 in the future. Anyway, Gutted the engine compartment, cleaned & painted. We're switching over to a carbed setup & keeping everything simple. From looking at it, I was thinking the factory motor mounts on the frame might just slide forward a few inches to mount the v8... What I was hoping anyway. From looking at it closer as I get nearer to that part of the build- it looks like the factory mounts wont work. The angle is weird & not all the holes line up right. Google is telling me that I need some motor mounts from a 73-87 GM w/ a v8. Anyway. I was wondering if this is even going to be possible being as the motor is a 72..? I know 73-87 is for the truck, but Im not sure if that carries over to motors as well...? Im not sure if a 72 SBC can even be mounted in a 87 without tons of fabrication.. Where can I get mounts if I need new ones? I searched ebay, but im not sure what Im looking for & going to a junkyard for motor mounts would take hours & tons of frustration Im sure. So- Ive taken some photos of the mounts in question & I would appreciate if someone could take & look & give me some feedback. MOTOR MOUNTS ALBUM This is the factory location for engine mount. This is where Id like it to sit, but not really lining up. Thanks! _marc |

You have the wrong mounts go to the boneyard pull a set out of a 73-87 small block truck and they will blot right in

Re: 87 R10- Need Motor Mount Help !!!
I recently replaced mine and i got them from advance auto parts.
@ 25 each the damage wasn't too painful to my wallet lol! I am almost sure that the 73-86 motor mounts will work for you but i am no expert.. I am certain that someone who knows more will chime in soon. By the way, welcome to the board!
