I suppose the right answer is to use lots of rubber washers, and install rubber gaskets or spacers on everything you find that clangs together or vibrates.
Honestly though, I treat them as I find them and I prefer the Macgyver approach to rattle-reduction.

This dime, for instance, is perfectly fitted for stopping the loud vibration of the plexiglass face plate in my gauge cluster. Going on six years now, its done its job just fine.

there ya go---1964..

start by taking your entire truck apart, replace all the bushings, body mounts, door seals, window seals, shocks, anything that is rubber and or worn out.

then it'll be just fine..

bk2life is right-add in some extra sound deadening and it's better than new. Everyone who rides in mine is amazed at how tight it is now.

Re: Squeak, Rattle and Roll

My 65 is really quiet and it's all original, I just replaced the window fuzzys. After a passenger slammed the crap out of the passenger door it has a little rattle at certain times.
My wrecker on the other hand, would dive you nuts, window seals, door seals and a squeak behind the seat. Windows are the ones that bother a guy though, they squeak a lot. Drove the wrecker in the rain the other day when my 2000 Astro had a wet distributor, only thing here that started right up. My hand kept getting wet because of the 1" gap on the bottom of the windshield seal, stuffed a rag in the hole. I guess this winter would be a good time to replace seals.

Re: Squeak, Rattle and Roll

The loud drum roll boom is the hood, the foam strips below the hood braces gets rottom and the whole hood acts like a barrell, every time you turn or hit a bump it rattles like crazy. Replace the flat foam rubber under the 2 hood braces....and life is good again. Kieth
