couple questions about a factory tach and oil preasure gauges
my factory tach gets stuck at around 2500rpms mark and i have to pop the top of the dash to get it un-stuck(how do i fix that?)...and how can you tell the difference between a 60lb and 80lb oil preasure gauge?

Re: couple questions about a factory tach and oil preasure gauges
Not sure about the tach, but the 60 pound gauge says 60 lbs and the 80 pound gauge says 80 lbs. Both are marked at the bottom and can't be seen until removed from the cluster.

Not sure about the tach, but the 80 lb oild pressure gauges are marked on the face down low where you have to pull the cluster apart to see it

Re: couple questions about a factory tach and oil preasure gauges
It's easier to just pull the gauge out from the back. Only has 2-3 small sheet metal bolts holding it in.

Re: couple questions about a factory tach and oil preasure gauges
80lb oil pressure gauges only came in C/40 and larger trucks. Unless one was swapped in, or your gauge cluster is from one of those trucks it is going to be a 60 lb gauge

I've also seen them in the 67 GMC V6 engines.

Is the tach factory wired? If so I would start at the back of the dash where the wires connect and clean and reinstall plug then do the same on the other end.
If that doesn't fix it then it's more than likely a internal problem. ![]() ![]()

Needle could be bent, and making contact with gauge face
