Mustang 2 spring rates

Anyone have an idea what spring rate to use on a 54 w/mustang crossmember. I plan on a small block w/aluminum heads, a/c, p/s, etc. Thanks guys for whatever input you can give me

I was told by street rod shop owner there are basically three stock spring rates 4cyl, V6 cyl & V8 springs for Mustang II. The 4 cyl springs are good for light weight cars, V6 are good for AD Trucks like your application, and the V-8springs are good for heavier Task force trucks or Vehicles running a heavier big block Motor. On my 56 Chev I am running a V8 spring with a coil cut, I plan on running A/C. Good Luck!

This chart shows "shipping" weights for bare bones Mustang IIs when you add a V6 or V8 plus AC and some other pieces most of them got up over 3000bs with quite a bias towards the front of the truck.

On a Stock MII a lot of the weight is out over or in front of the front axle line while on our trucks the weight is centered behind the axle line more. Meaning that a lot of truck guys opt for too heavy of a spring when putting front springs under the truck.

I plan to start with the 76 V8 Mach 1 springs that I've had stashed back for years for the 48 but may have to change after that. I'd think if you have a set of springs that came with your other front end pieces it would be prudent to try them and go from there. I realize that now a lot of guys have everything on the front end new and from the aftermarket though.

Maybe guys running coils can expound a bit on what they are running an show some photos of the end results along with driving impressions.

I have lighweight 4 cyl. springs on my 55 GMC and Bilstine shocks and the ride is very confortable and over 50K miles !
