What width?
What width rear end fits under a 50 Chev 3100 with good clearance?

Re: What width?
If you're going to build/narrow a 9", I would suggest finding your wheels first and match the required width to the offset. The end width will be depicted by the wheel offset. Otherwise a popular swap option back in the day was to install a 55-57 chevy rear which is 60" wide. This site might give you some ideas on others that will work.
http://www.carnut.com/specs/rear.html Posted via Mobile Device I noticed you live in NRH. You are welcome to use my 13 year olds 51 AD for measurements if you like. We live just northeast of TMS in Argyle. Last edited by dadz34; 11-29-2012 at 10:50 PM. |

Re: What width?
62 wms is what I came up with on mine. If you are running a 9 and can cut/broach etc , then your wheel choice ( backspace)will ultimately dictate your housing width.
8.8's from Explorers with disc are common as are s-10, camaro, firebird. Pre 69 1/2 ton chevy truck are 62 1/2, but 6 lug. Moser can supply axles for most anything. |
