Which fuel rail?

I had a 4.8L (2000, return rail intake) in my 72 and I'm changing it out to a cam'ed LQ9 (out of a 2005 escalade, non return fuel rail). I was wanting some input as to which is better or worse. I was going to use the return rail on it because my stainless fuel hose is already set up for it. Thanks for any input.

Re: Which fuel rail?

If your already setup for it, just keep the return setup. There isn't a performance advantage to changing out, you already have the stuff, and you can always change up to an aftermarket rail and regulator using the return setup easily.

Re: Which fuel rail?

I would stick with the return style setup from the 4.8. However, you will have to change the fueling tables in your PCM to the return style values, vs. the returnless values. I don't have EFI Live open in front of me right now, but assuming your injectors are the same lb/hr as an earlier 6.0, you can find the values in a 6.0 file that uses return style fuel system.

Re: Which fuel rail?

I am having the computer done at current performance, which is who did the wiring harness. I will make sure the correct files are put in the PCM. Thanks for the responses.
