Help! Intake and exhuast gaskets on inline 250????
Hey everyone, I have a question in regards to the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, trying to figure out the mating or installation of the gaskets. I Know on the gasket that mounts to the header the flat side goes towards the header with the metal facing the intake and exhaust ports am I correct on this???? the one that is baffleing me is the one for in between the the intake and exhuast below the carb, I have two gaskets one that is solid and one that is just the outline of the manifold, so which one goes in there and which way does the metal side face, intake or exhaust side???? Keep in mind this is for a stock inline 250, I have searched but cant find any info on this so I appreciate everyones help on this. Thanks...............

Use the one w/the cutout and I put the metal side towards the exhaust manifold.

Re: Help! Intake and exhuast gaskets on inline 250????
Yeah, it'll help. Also...if you leave the intake/exhaust bolts a little loose when you mount the two back together, it'll make alignment a little easier. Once you have the manifolds bolted to the head, then tighten up the 3 that hold the two manifolds together.

Check the flanges to see if they're flat. They may be warped which would make them not seal evenly.
