54 chevy dually
I have a 54 Chevy 3800 flatbed. My goal for this truck is to lower it, keep the flatbed, and put a beefy 350 motor in it. My main problem is the big ugly split rims. I am having trouble finding eight bolt rims that will work. I found a 76 Chevy dually that I was thinking about putting the 54 body on, however after closer measuring I found the front end was quite a bit wider than the 54. I don't think the tires would fit into the fenders. Does anybody have any ideas that could help me accomplish what I want to do. Thanks

Re: 54 chevy dually
The rims from the 76 should fit your truck. You may need to go with a bigger stud (9/16) size but they should work.

Re: 54 chevy dually
Thank you, I will try them. That would be easier than swapping frames.

I like your truck as well. Are those original wheels? I also like your mirrors. What did the mirrors come off of.

Re: 54 chevy dually
The wheels are newer one piece rims. Make sure you measure the ID of the rim to match it to your hub. A friend gave me the mirrors, I think they are called West Coast Jrs.

Re: 54 chevy dually
Thanks for the advice trekster, the rim does fit but the studs like u said need to be bigger. I dont think that is a big deal but the id is also larger than my hub. I dont know if i can get some sort of adapter for the center hub or not. I did like the look it would give me with the 16 in. Rims though. I wonder if there is a way to get another hub assembly fabricated on to the 54? ;
